Reading
Reading is a large town, about 40 miles from London,
with excellent train services to the capital and to the
West of England. It is situated on the River Thames and
visitors to the town can enjoy peaceful riverside walks,
as well as an extensive shopping centre, markets, cinemas,
a museum and a theatre. Reading is convenient for London’s Heathrow Airport.

The University of Reading is located close to the town
centre. Whiteknights, the parkland campus, was once part
of a medieval estate and its features include a lake,
a conservation area and many mature cedar trees. The
university today has almost 9,000 students.

Bearwood College is in Wokingham, about 10km east of Reading. The impressive Victorian mansion is the main College building and was the home of John Walter III who made his fortune from the Times Newspaper. It is situated in 5,000 acres (2,000 hectares) of landscaped grounds with a beautiful lake.
