The following terms and conditions of enrolment are important and should be read carefully by all prospective students and their parents, guardians and/or sponsors before completion and submission of the signed application form.
Application
If you are successful in your application you will receive a joint offer letter from FoundationCampus and the collaborating institution outlining the proposed course of study and detailing the tuition fees and the deposit that will be required to guarantee your place at FoundationCampus.
Tuition fee deposit payment
To accept your offer you or your sponsor will be required to pay the indicated deposit. This deposit will be set against the tuition fees for your programme and shall be a minimum of £1,000. The initial deposit will be held until the student’s final term of study, when it will be offset against the balance of fees owed.
The required tuition fee deposit payment will be outlined in your offer letter. Please be advised that students from certain countries where visa applications are monitored more intensively may be asked to pay a higher deposit payment. This increased deposit is intended to facilitate the visa application process for such students by demonstrating a clear intent to study and an ability to fund this study. Please contact us if you are unsure about whether this applies to you.
In some cases, written evidence of government sponsorship may be accepted in lieu of the tuition fee deposit. Sponsorship letters should be on headed paper with the student’s full name, the collaborating institution’s full name and the period and sum of sponsorship clearly noted.
Refunds on the deposit paid will be in accordance with the Refund Policy.
Acceptance of your place
When your minimum tuition fee deposit has been received by us you will receive a Certificate of Acceptance from FoundationCampus. This document can be used for the purpose of applying for a visa to study in the UK. As noted above, it may enhance your visa application to pay a full term’s or full year’s fees in advance.
Payment of fees
All fees will be payable in advance as determined by FoundationCampus. Fees are correct at time of publication. FoundationCampus reserves the right to vary tuition fees at any time and payment of each term’s tuition fees will be subject to any increase in fees that may be announced during the programme of study.
All student fees must be settled in advance of the start of that term’s studies e.g. if term starts on 12 January, fees must be received by FoundationCampus on or before 11 January. You will not be permitted to commence or continue your course at the beginning of any term until all outstanding fees, charges or accounts are paid.
Any payments that are not made by the due date will incur a late payment penalty to be determined and communicated in advance of your programme of study by FoundationCampus.
Should it be necessary for you to repeat a module you will be required to pay the full module fee.
The student may be prevented from sitting examinations or the results of such examinations and/or FoundationCampus references or other information may be withheld where fees remain unpaid in whole or in part.
Academic conditions of entry and continued enrolment
Students are admitted to FoundationCampus programmes on the basis of English language and academic ability and, in some cases, on the additional basis of experiential learning.
Any student found to have misled FoundationCampus as to their qualifications and suitability for entry will be subject to expulsion from FoundationCampus without recourse to refund of tuition fees already paid.
FoundationCampus reserves the right to offer an alternative programme to any student failing to meet the required standard of English language ability for their original programme. Any additional fees incurred will be the responsibility of the student. If no alternative programme is available, FoundationCampus may offer to defer the original entry date in order to allow the student to seek English language tuition elsewhere.
Students are expected to attend all classes and lectures, and will be subject to assessment by means of coursework and other continuous assessment methods and by examination. In order to progress though the programme of study and to subsequent degree courses offered by the collaborating institution, students are required to meet prescribed academic and English language standards.
FoundationCampus reserves the right to impose sanctions including, but not limited to, termination of the enrolment of any student whose standard of conduct is unsatisfactory. There will be no refund of tuition fees in cases of expulsion.
Academic progression
On successful graduation from your FoundationCampus programme of study, and subject to meeting all conditions of enrolment of the collaborating institution, you will be offered a place* on a suitable programme of study at the collaborating institution and will be subject to the collaborating institution’s Terms and Conditions.
Attendance
Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of classes in order to meet the attendance requirements. If visa regulations require a higher percentage attendance level these regulations will take precedence, and non-attendance may be reported to the relevant UK authority.
Cancellation
The acceptance of a student’s enrolment at FoundationCampus means that a place has been reserved for the student at FoundationCampus. In cases where that place is cancelled by the person responsible for the fees, the following charges shall apply:
a) Twelve weeks or more before the programme starts – £100 administration fee.
b) Six to twelve weeks before the programme starts – £1,000.
c) Zero to six weeks before the programme starts – a full term’s fees.
Written notice of cancellation must be provided to the Centre and receipt will be acknowledged in writing. Failure to provide written cancellation will incur the full termly fee applicable.
Refund policy
Acceptance of a FoundationCampus offer is confirmed solely by payment of the minimum stated deposit and such payment constitutes a binding contract between the student and FoundationCampus.
Tuition fees are non-refundable except in the case of visa refusal, unless the minimum notice period for cancellation or withdrawal is given. Should a student be refused a visa, evidence of refusal and a written application to cancel or withdraw must be made available to FoundationCampus before any refund can be initiated. FoundationCampus will verify the authenticity of the evidence of visa refusal with the appropriate British overseas posting (Embassy/High Commission), and will charge an administration fee of £100 in the event of such a refund.
Withdrawal
In order for a student to withdraw from a course of studies after it has begun, one full term’s notice in writing is required to be given by the student or the person responsible for the fees. For example, notice would be given during Autumn term (term 1) of an intention to withdraw from the course at the end of the Spring term (term 2). Failure to give such written notice will result in a term’s fees in lieu of notice due for payment.
Any students withdrawing from a FoundationCampus programme of study must be reported to the UK Home Office and British Embassy/High Commission in their home country.
Illness or injury
FoundationCampus regrets that it is unable to refund fees when the student is absent from a programme due to illness or injury or other emergency, unforeseen event or change in personal circumstances to either the student or any relative or any other third party. We recommend that all students purchase insurance to cover any such eventuality.
Student behaviour and expulsion
i) The student must abide by the rules as set out in the FoundationCampus Student Handbook or as may be published or announced by the Centre Head from time to time.
ii) FoundationCampus reserves the right to require a student’s withdrawal including immediate withdrawal from a programme, for a serious or aggravated disciplinary or behavioural matter.
iii) In the event of a student’s temporary or permanent withdrawal from a programme under ii) above, or expulsion from the FoundationCampus , no refund of the term’s fees or deposit will be made.
Academic performance
i) The student is accepted at FoundationCampus on the understanding that progression through the relevant programmes is conditional upon satisfactorily attending lessons and attaining reasonable performance targets.
ii) If, in the reasonable opinion of the Centre Head, the student has not satisfactorily attended lessons or attained reasonable performance targets, FoundationCampus may not enter the student for examinations or allow the student to continue with the programmes for which enrolled. In such circumstances the student will be offered suitable alternative programmes or asked to withdraw from FoundationCampus . In the event of a student being withdrawn in these circumstances no refund of the term’s fees or deposit will be made. FoundationCampus reserves the right not to offer a previously available programme of study at its own discretion. Where a student is unable to enrol in a similar course at FoundationCampus and the enrolment is cancelled then all fees will be refunded.
Deferment
Holders of a FoundationCampus offer may, by way of written request to FoundationCampus , defer commencement of their programme of study up to a maximum of one academic year. Any fees held by FoundationCampus will be held without penalty, for use against subsequent courses of study. Should the FoundationCampus offer holder subsequently withdraw any fees held will be non‑refundable.
Accommodation
FoundationCampus students are eligible to apply for on-campus accommodation at the collaborating institution. Students are bound by the collaborating institution’s accommodation regulations from application through to completion of the FoundationCampus programme.
Data protection
Any information provided to FoundationCampus may be held on computer and shall be used by FoundationCampus in accordance with current UK Data Protection law.
Data may be passed on to the collaborating institution in cases where a student might gain direct entry to that institution.
Liability
Any reference in these terms to the liability of the student shall also infer liability on the parents, guardian or sponsor of the student and such liability is joint and several.
Variation of Conditions
FoundationCampus may, by written notice, vary conditions of enrolment as may be necessary to comply with any law, regulations or amendment thereof, of the Government of Great Britain.
FoundationCampus additionally reserves the right, upon giving one term’s written notice of such change to all affected students, parents, guardians and sponsors, to make any addition, amendment or alteration to these conditions as is deemed necessary by FoundationCampus .
The Contract between the Applicant and FoundationCampus is governed by the laws of Great Britain.
