Sculpture Summer School

      

Our sculpture summer school lasts for one week (5 days) and runs three times throughout the summer:

  • Monday 13th July - Friday 18th July
  • Monday 3rd August - Friday 8th August
  • Monday 18th August - Friday 22nd August.

- Tutor demo
- Students casting faces in mod rock
Soapstone Carving workshop:
- Introduction to sculpture using natural forms: Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth
- Tutor demo
- Students soapstone carving
Egyptian Art workshop:
- Introduction to Egyptian Art
- Tutor demo
- Workshop: study Hieroglyphics and make a sculpture
Egyptian Art workshop:
- Make an artefact
- Tutor demo: how to make a piece out of clay, wood and wire
- Students make piece of their own
Wire Sculptures workshop:
- Figures and movement: wire sculptures + mod rock 
- Introduction to Germaine Richier
Alberto Giacometti
pm- African masks & headdresses
- Tutor demo
- Students decorating their faces / masks
Students continue their carvings

Half day excursion:
Fitzwilliam Museum
(Egyptian Artefacts)

- Students decorate artefact and create an environment to display piece
- Group exhibition of artefacts
- Introduction to
Walter Bodner and Alexander Calder
- Drawings in space using wire: create a wire circus
