2008 Arts Festival and Fashion Show

DRESS FOR THE ELEMENTS...

2008 Arts Festival

This year's Arts Festival was our most ambitious yet. With a 'floating' Fashion Show, 3-storey Art & Design Exhibition, and performances of Brecht's popular jazz-play 'The Threepenny Opera' our students were the talk of the city centre during Festival week in June.

THE THREEPENNY OPERA
Our drama students performed their final show, Brecht's The Threepenny Opera, to packed audiences at the Corpus Christi Playroom, Cambridge. One of Brecht's best loved and most performed plays, it is a satire on the bourgeois society of the Weimar Republic set in a mock Soho. With the jazz music of Kurt Weill, this play is a popular hit throughout the western world.

ART & DESIGN EXHIBITION - FROM JEWELLERY DESIGN TO GRAPHIC DESIGN
The Art & Design Exhibition was our biggest yet, featuring work from over 90 students in our brand new dedicated Art and Design studios at Bridge House. Covering 3 wings of this impressive building, the exhibition featured a stunning array of work from jewellery design to graphic design; illustration to fine art; theatre design to architecture and much more.

Individual pieces were available to buy alongside postcards of the students work. For the first time we also be featured work from our degree-level students.

This was an unmissable display of work by some exceptionally talented young artists and designers of the future.

FASHION SHOW
This year's fashion show was our boldest yet, situated on the river with models parading down a floating catwalk. Fortunately, the audience got to stay on dry land! The theme of this year's show - The Elements - was set by Celebrity Designer Betty Jackson, who judged the winning garment. Proceeds from the Show were donated to WaterAid
