Living expenses
Aside from tuition and accommodation fees, students need to plan for the cost of day-to-day living. In the UK, costs vary depending on where your student lives and their lifestyle.
Location
In general, the South is slightly more expensive than the North of the UK. Students will also find that London and big or popular cities are more expensive than small cities, towns and rural locations.
Food and shopping
There are a huge range of shops and supermarkets in the UK which means it is possible to live very cheaply. Equally, if students choose to buy designer brands they will spend a lot more! With a wide selection of options, there are shops to suit all budgets, as well as local food markets in most towns.
Student discounts
As a student, there are many discounts to take advantage of in a variety of places including restaurants, cinemas, theatres, public transport, clothes shops and entertainment / cultural events. Students can look out for signs and vouchers promoting student discounts in shops.
Most institutions can provide you with a guide to the cost of living in their area and details of discounts available locally. If you would like more information about the cost of living at our centres, our educational advisors will be happy to advise you.
