Drama Summer School

The Drama Summer School is ideal for...
Students interested in Drama or Theatre Studies, or those who may be considering either the Drama Foundation or International Drama Foundation at Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts.

What will I study?
The course introduces a range of different drama techniques in a fun, safe and active environment. It will also improves your confidence, self-esteem and communication skills.
The Summer School runs over a 6 week period, with the three specialisms being taught for 2 weeks each.
You can choose the area of theatre that appeals to you most, or, if you are considering a career in drama, you can extend your range by trying a number of different disciplines.
The first week of each specialism focuses on building towards a performance, which takes place during the second week. Students can attend the first or both weeks, but cannot join the performance week only.
Course dates for 2010 are as follows:
- Musical Theatre (weeks 1 & 2): 5 – 16 July
- Contemporary Theatre / Acting (weeks 3 & 4): 19 – 30 July
- Physical Theatre (weeks 5 & 6): 2 – 13 August

Head of Drama
Jean Stewart
Jean trained at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) and Glasgow University and has worked in theatre in education both here and in Europe (Spain and Germany) for over twenty years.
She has experience working in community theatre with adults and in developing new writing for young people through the National Theatre Connexions programme, working on plays such as Friendly Fire by Peter Gill.
More recently Jean acted with Menagerie Theatre Company during their 2006 season of New Writing.
