IB Students raise over £2800 for charity

In partnership with the Kent  Wildlife trust, two bus loads of International Baccalaureate students spent their Sunday morning and afternoon getting dirty in the name of "Creativity, Action and Service."

By cleaning and clearing five sections of the forest, the students helped the Wildlife Trust with its on-going conservation activities, ensuring a healthy and suitable habitat for the local people and wildlife.

Additionally, as part of a Lottery-funded programme set up to aid with the conservation of endangered forest and woodland, a donation of £60 was made to the Trust for each student who sacrificed their Sunday lay-in to do their bit. For all the CATS Canterbury students combined, this totalled an amazing £2880.

The unique CAS ('Creativity, Action, Service') element of the IB course is, for many students, one of the most rewarding aspects of the demanding and respected programme.

Designed to counterbalance the demanding academic rigours of the IB,  CAS requires students to undertake at least 150 hours of extra-curricular activities during their diploma that will develop them "creatively, physically and socially."

These activities form a huge part of the day-to-day life of CATS Canterbury with fun and rewarding events taking place on a regular basis. Recent events include paintballing, guitar lessons, a Halloween ball, slumber party and talent show.
