One of the greatest stresses for a student can be balancing school work with planning for the future. 

We make sure that you get all the support and preparation you need whatever your next step may be. Through the course of the year we will:

  • introduce you to outside events that showcase the options ahead of you
  • organise seminars that prepare you for your exams
  • help you decide which universities to apply for
  • help with your university application
  • organise seminars that prepare you for the interviews ahead
  • suggest career pathways you may not have considered
  • support you with reassuring day to day mentoring from your Personal Tutor and the Higher Education Officer.

A typical year of student support:
June, Year 1: Higher Education conference
Higher Education conference organised by UCAS for Year 1 students at the University of Kent. Year 1 students given UCAS application handbooks. Work started on personal statements with Personal Tutors.

September, Year 2: Introduction to UCAS
Introduction to UCAS and the application process. All students receive our own tailored UCAS application handbook. Meeting with Year 2 students, with in-depth discussion of UCAS process.

October – March, Year 2: Individual advice
UCAS drop-in sessions – individual sessions run regularly for any student who would like help with any aspect of the UCAS application process.

October, Year 2: Careers fair
Careers fair – talks about specific careers and pathways into them given by professionals and supported by information on university courses.

October, Year 2: University of London
Talk for all students on the completion of UCAS applications and personal statements with a senior adviser from University of London.

November and February, Year 2: University fairs
Two university fairs – representatives from more than 30 different universities, such as Imperial College, Warwick, York and Edinburgh. Talks, personal statement workshops and question and answer sessions with current university students.

March, Year 2: Prepared for action
English preparation – students likely to need pre-sessional English course identified. Application forms started. Prepared for action
