Pre:Programme
Our Pre:Programme is a specially devised fast-track course for international students, offering the flexibility of progression to either International Baccalaureate, A level or University Foundation at CATS Canterbury.
The programme is designed to equip students with the necessary skills needed for university preparation, with the option to sit IGCSE examinations at the end of three terms.
What subjects will I study?
You will study the following subjects on this course:
- English: 5 lessons per week*
- World Lit: 3 lessons per week
- Maths: 5 lessons per week*
- Combined Science: 5 lessons per week
- Business 3 lessons per week
- History: 2 lessons per week
- Geography: 2 lessons per week
- Art: 2 lessons per week
- Drama: 2 lessons per week
- ICT: 2 lessons per week
- Creativity, Action, Service: 1 lesson per week
- Sports: 2 lessons per week
- Personal Tutor: 1 lesson per week
How is the course assessed?

- GCSE examinations*
- IELTS examination
*Students who have studied the complete 3-term programme are able to sit IGCSE examinations at the end of the year.
Students who are too late for the September start, can also enrol in January or April for one or two terms, but will not be able to sit the exams at the end of the course.
All students receive a full report summarising their achievements.
Should you study this course?
This course is valuable to any student considering a university preparation programme.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma in particular requires students to have a high level of proficiency in both English Language and Mathematics before they start the course.
The Pre:Programme helps prepares students for the demands of these core subjects, but also introduces typical methods of study.
