Dr Howard Clarke spent nine years in industry developing the conversion of coal into petroleum, researching the reduction of mercury pollution in the environment and ways of making new pharmaceuticals.

Peter Meiklejohn qualified as a mechanical engineering designer, in which he lectured at a college of technology, followed by many years as a qualified teacher of mathematics and computer technology, holding various head of department posts.

Lynn Weston returned to the UK after running a school of English in Switzerland. She has taught at a variety of state and private schools, as well as writing and publishing a range of language textbooks.

Naomi Parker has spent a lifetime in education and taught more than 60 pupils who went on to medical school. She has been involved in dog training, learning Russian, writing a film script, demonstrating at Ban the Bomb marches, hunting for fossils in Wales and taking parties of teenagers to Russia.

Dr Peter Kolinsky was a senior Industrial Research Scientist and project leader for many years, working on non-linear optics and the development of new optical materials for high-power laser systems.

Derek Sellen has taught in Spain, Russia and Austria as well as the UK. He is the author of several EFL books, such as Skills in Action and Grammar World and is a UK prize-winning poet and dramatist.

David Harmer has taught a wide range of computer courses, has written computer software, designed websites commercially and built burglar alarms, robots and computers.

Dr R John Pritchard, widely recognised as one of the world's leading authorities in his fields, has published 175 books and articles on contemporary history and international law. He has been an historical consultant on a number of award-winning documentary feature films, and frequently contributes to television and radio news and current affairs programmes.

Julia Leslie has been an educational safari guide in southern Africa, has taught TEFL in London, Canterbury and Austria, and in Further Education in Thanet. As well as teaching EFL and Biology, she is pursuing a PhD in Sports Tourism at Christ Church University.

David Wardle originally started training as a patent lawyer, became a teacher and spent 20 years in Botswana, Malawi and Malaysia as a Deputy Principal, Headmaster and Housemaster.

Ian Philpott served in the RAF during the Ulster, Cyprus and Kuwait crises, became manager of HTS Consultants and, as a teacher, commanded Dover Grammar School Combined Cadet Force. He is also a Government & Politics examiner.

Bryan Lewis has extensive experience in industry and in the academic world. Combining his skills as a qualified engineer with experience in senior academic management posts, he has taught at university level as well as in secondary schools.

Judith Beck taught in both state and independent schools including 16 years as head of modern languages and as a researcher in linguistics. She is an experienced examiner for both GCE boards and the IB.

Jonathan Cane has many years' experience working in the travel and tourism industry and loves working with students from such a diverse range of cultures.
